Ah, it was bound to happen. After owning my first fixie for over 3 months now, I’ve finally taken a spill. I’m in more pain than I was last night, as I was a bit intoxicated at the time of the spill. Someone was really surprised that I haven’t eaten it before, and argued with me drunkenly that I couldn’t have “not crashed on a fixie” yet. Well it happened. Of course I was doing some sort of incredibly stupid no handed skid at the time, but whatever, right? I clearly remember falling to the left of the bike, but my right knee and elbow are the ones complaining today. Too bad I had to wait till AFTER I get the nice Brooks saddle on to eat it. Apparently that was the other victim of the night, a nice lil skid mark at the back of the saddle. Oh well, live and learn, right?
…and got a Facebook account. My excuse was work related, but regardless, I’ve already “developed” a facebook application. Well, it’s just a rss feed displayer. It displays future events from the robothouse.org calendar, and lets you “share” the events with others. Overall, pretty chill to work with, and I have future plans for the app… mostly just to give the user the ability to add the event to their personal facebook calendar.
In other news (read as “bike news”) I’m pretty much done with parts on the bike and it’s ridiculous to say the least. The folks at Biff’s were checkin’ it out this morning and referred to it as the “Watermellon Bike.” I should probably get some pictures up soon. I am looking into a steel frame to replace the aluminum one, which means the green might go away sometime down the road. The Milwaukee Cream City Track frame looks hella chill. We’ll see…
I am stoked on my track standin’ abilities… as on my way home from Safeway this evening, I was able to hold it up for a double train crossing, even going no-handed for a bit as well. Chill
I should get to bed soon, I gotta get to work super early in the morning for updates to NAUauthZ. ![]()
Ok, so here are some things:
I was lame and didn’t go to Bruce & Annette’s wedding this past weekend. I wasn’t feeling good early in the weekend and I just stayed home. This also means I missed out on going to Phantom Ranch as well. Boo to me, bad Ray.
I did go help Mark tear down the rest of a cabin on Monday though. Good Ray.
I figured out how to bike to Parks without using the highway at all. It sucked… SO… BAD. Bad (idea) Ray. The train roads from downtown to a little before Bellemont were practically sharp rock rivers and it took me forever to get past em. After getting to Bellemont, the old 66 route took me straight to Mark’s house, which ruled, even when it downpoured. We played Shed teardown Jenga by sledgehammering each support in turn till the thing went down. Apparently the damn shower held up the thing practically by itself. We were down to 3 supports (from like 25-ish to start.) Mark lost since it toppled over as he was hitting his last support out. I was the last before him, so I guess I won? Good Ray?

On a side note, I figured out I can carry at least 4 6-packs + 1 in my bag. Good Ray. That is all…
