Yesterday was interesting.

I took the afternoon off of work to rest before going to the MMJ show in Tempe. Zoë couldn’t go to the show with me, so we hung out for a bit. The interesting part came when we got taken out to lunch by our super secret financial investor. It was nice to just sit down and shoot the shit. I still want to take part in the creation of a café/venue but I’m no longer stressing out about timelines and availability of property. I now look at it like a long term project that will happen in due time. I’m still looking and doing research on property in the downtown Flagstaff area. Hopefully something does crop up. My plans consist of scouring the downtown area to figure out who owns what property and what their longterm future plans are. Weird, eh?

So, I take off to Phx with my old roomie Tony and a friend of his. We are stoked and they sit in the back and talk nonstop. I liked it because it gave my mind something to focus on instead of the monotany of the road. The show itself was incredibly fun. Saul Williams was super energetic live, and got a bunch of kids up and about. I ran into the Necronauts crew. They’re playing Monte Vista on new year’s eve. I need to make it to that for a change! I also ran into onld High School folks. That was pretty sweet.

My Morning Jacket were amazing live. They had that feeling you get when you see a band that don’t give a shit where they’re playing or to whom, just that they’re having a good time. Mucho awesome solos and set selection. They also played my fav song of theirs:

At Dawn

at dawn they ride again, they’ll haul you out to the streets.
They’ll burn your papers and your empty trash cans,
beat this thought into your head, singin over and over again:
“all your life is obscene!”
“forget the papers, forget your musical dreams!”
but that’s when my knife rises,
their life ends and my life starts again!

I swear I’m gonna cover that someday.

Also, Tony’s friend disappeared somewhere during the set. When we went outside after the show, we were like “where is she at?” I see a security person consoling some girl puking uncontrollably. Uh-oh. Great. Tony bucks up and heads over there. She somehow got way too loaded at the show and was all sorts out of it. All I can think is “gret, she’s gonna puke all over my car.” Man, I’m a selfish jerk. Haha. We clean her up, and get her in the car. She falls asleep immediately. Good. Whew. Tony appologizes and I’m like “dude, no worries.” As long as she doesn’t puke in the car.

We make it back early 1:30-ish and I hop into bed to sleep. The End. :)
Oh, funny thing is that our bed is downstairs in the living room. We moved it down there because we painted the bedroom and bathroom and needed to air out for a day or so. Zoë and I then got addicted to watching the Desperate Housewives box set and keep forgetting to move the bed back. I should take care of that tonight. I mean, we can’t have a bed in the middle of the living room during Zoë’s party on friday, right?!?!

Whew. It’s been a busy few weeks. So, yesterday I did something I thought I’d never do. Accept to teach a class. It’s not a full semester, but rather I’m taking over teaching the rest of this semester’s CIS161 UNIX Admin class. It’s an evening class, but hey, at least I can make a few extra bucks and get more accomodated with teaching. Not that I want to make it a big part of my life, but at least I’ll be helping out some.

Next Tuesday I’m going to see My Morning Jacket in PHX. I’ve been impressed with every album these guys have done, and I’m stoked to see them deliver these songs live. I checked their website and am now more than curious about the supporting act Saul Williams. This is where the TDI comes into play. Cheap gas on the way there and back, yay! Thanks to Tony for reminding me about this show, as he and Zoë are going also. I just wish I had a camera to take some pics. Oh well.

I’m lookig at moving my webhost sometime soon. I’v been with hostdepartment for a couple years now, and their service is just lacking to say the least. Their mysql db’s are always lagging, thus making my sites slow as molasses, thus meaning less people visiting and making use of the sites. I’m looking at moving to dreamhost, as per John’s suggestion. They have awesome support for forward thinking technologies, plus if you sign up other members you get kickbacks for their signups, which means eventually you can score free service, etc. Ooh, seecret pyramid scheme! :)

Things I should probably save up for… (aka secret wish list)

A real cross bike, something like this or this. I think my size is around 57-58cm. I can’t afford a bling bike, so I’m gonna shoot for an entry level one like these. Most of the riding I’ve been doing has been on the road, so a lighter bike would be awesome.

Bike Helmet. I must be finally getting old. I’ve been a non-helmet wearer since forever, but the recent massive increase of lame drivers, deaths and bike accidents in this town are making me think otherwise. I’ve only liked the super light helmets that I’ve tried on. Gah, why am i such a picky bastard?

New fenders for my bike! Seriously, my current fenders are all kinds of messed up and I have to keep on adjusting em every couple of days, plus they don’t cover the tire well in the back and I still get muddy mess on my back/bag when I ride in the rain, etc.

Camera… well since mine got stolen on tour in July, I haven’t had $ to replace it. Therefore I haven’t been taking any photos lately. Totally sucking. I’m gonna have to find a camera sometime before my vacation to the east coast cause I’ll be seeing so many relatives I haven’t visited in forever. The Canon SD30 or SD20 are in my price range, but alas… only time will tell.

I also seriously need to start looking into getting some ear warmers, cause riding the bike to work in the morning is cold. Very cold. While I’m at it, I should probably start looking at some bike pants, jacket or gloves for the ride to work.
