Woah… I tend to say (or at least think) that alot when I write in this sporadic journal. It’s the only word I can think of when trying to remember all that’s happened since my last entry. Seriously I’m starting to forget things at a quicker rate as my life becomes exponentially busier.
Anyways, “Married” life has been hilarious to say the least. I think we fooled over 50 people with the fake wedding. Good thing noone spent any large ammount of money on presents, etc. We did have amazing sushi and lots of good drinks. It was the best Veteran’s Day I’ve ever had. Zoë still wears her engagement ring to work to fend off the creepy old men who frequent her work. She awesome, for reals.
The venue is taking more time and money, primarily because I wanna finish up the stage and sound for the room. Hopefully we’ll be getting some more art in the place with Pete doing the bathroom area, and someday getting Jason Moore to do some art in the Office. Zing. I spent way too much money on PA gear, but in the long run, getting better gear will last longer and sound way better in the space. Plus we won’t have to worry about borrowing equipment from people in the future!
I still desperately need help with work at the venue because I don’t have a pipe bender, or ability to do electricity well, or ability to do plumbing well. I’m also super cautious now, since the dude I had build the speaker cabinets fucked em up more than once and didn’t do a great job overall.
Anyways, here’s to student loan payments, being broke, waiting for my job to post and on a positive note: bikes!
Whew. Coffee tastes so good, man. Yesterday I made the mistake of not drinking any. I had the hugest headache all day. I’m not sure if it was the lack of caffine or not, but that’s what I’m banking on. Thanks Macys, I’m officially addicted to caffine. JETOMI practice was awesome, but I was bummed that Corey didn’t make it. He’s been busy with shows and practice every day this week so it’s all good. I’m stoked for the show we have on the 20th in Phoenix. We need to play a big ass event that’s not set up by us.
Rachel gave up on the phone the other day, and she’s moving to take care of grantwriting for the FYP. Man, we could really use some of those donations listed on the website. Anyone want to answer phones? We gots mad crazy phone calls from tons of people wanting to reserve the space. Woah. Heh. Adrian did the front of the cabinets for the main speakers wrong, so it’s going to take even more time to finish ‘em out. I think we may have some money to buy some amps, mics and mic stands for the venue. That would rule. But we also have to set aside money for wood to complete the stage, stage subwall, and sound pannels for the venue. I MUST remind myself to call Brady to talk about sound shit this weekend. He seems to have a pretty good grasp on how the room sound works. Yeah.
I am stoked to see Case and his lady when they get into town. It should be a hoot-n-hollerin time for all. He even got a room at the V for pre and post partying. Awesome.
It’s Friday. I’m so excited, I’m so excited… I’m scared!
What a last couple of weeks. I’ve been runnig around like crazy trying to get things done. I get things done and then more things come up. The only difference is that there’s alot more “things” getting done and alot more “things” to do.
My brother Russ is doing well in Afghanistan and is coming home to visit soon. I am hella stoked about that. He even sent me some pictures.
As always, there’s tons of shit coming my way courtesy of Studio 111. I FINALLY got my speakers back after a 6month debacle with a… hell, I don’t even want to go into it. I’m just glad I have them back and can put them to good use at the venue. Adrian is working on some speaker cabinets for the PA mains which should be done in a day or two. There was a fun free show on Sunday that Daniel from It Burns put on, but I had to leave early. I need to give hella props to Argent for taking over when I needed it. He is more than the man.
Flag Poetry Slam is coming to Studio 111 after a falling out with Long Days and I can say I’m totally stoked for it. My buddy Logan runs it with some awesome kids and we’re looking forward to more positive activities at the venue. How can I get more donations?
Anyways, I’m still addicted to Sushi, as me and Zoë had an awesome evening out last friday, first going to a creepy Sushi place in Sedona, then getting a hankering for Dragon Rolls at Hiro’s and going there directly afterwards. Thumbs up for quality time together. Double thumbs up for quality time at different times of the day and night. Seriously.
Okay, time to finish up the work day, then meet with Rachel about booking @ 111, open the venue for the bands tonight, meet with Mihio about his website, and then meet with Bobby and Guy and see how Bobby’s dad is faring. Whew. It’s only Monday, maaan.
PS: I haven’t drank any soda for the past week now. Awesome. Hello coffee.
